About The Position

The function of CNC Operator is to manufacture quality finished products in accordance with the instructions of the work order. CNC Operators report to Manager-Accessory Manufacturing and exercise authority over no other employee.

Requirements

  • Effective verbal and written communication in English
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions in English
  • Sufficient visual acuity to perform job duties safely and accurately
  • Ability to work in office, warehouse, production, or outdoor environments as required
  • General knowledge of CNC equipment and precision measuring equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret prints, drawings, and work instructions
  • Ability to verify part dimensions and document required checks
  • Strong attention to detail and quality awareness
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship, now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • 1–2 years CNC machining experience preferred
  • Lift, move, adjust, push, pull, and carry objects to waist height up to 75 lbs. without assistance when performing changeovers and up to 100 lbs. with assistance
  • Lift, move, adjust, push, pull, and carry objects from waist to shoulder height up to 75 lbs. without assistance and up to 100 lbs. with assistance
  • Frequent standing, walking and sitting through out shift
  • Bending, stooping, and reaching to inspect or adjust equipment
  • Occasional use of stairs
  • Operation of CNC machinery
  • Use of hand tools and measuring devices
  • Visual acuity to see clearly at various distances, including reading small print or monitoring equipment
  • Exposure to noise, temperature variations, and shop environment
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods of time without significant fatigue

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Machine Shop Supervisor to be assigned to a workstation and receive written work instructions.
  • Follow all company policies and regulations concerning conduct and safety.
  • Perform and document any necessary machine maintenance prior to running equipment.
  • Verify material to Work Order prior to machining to ensure that correct material is being used.
  • Check all precision measurement instruments for current calibration status and report any outdated or damaged equipment to the Manager.
  • Verify dial calipers against micrometers at the start of each shift, prior to use.
  • Do not leave the machine while in operating cycle.
  • Document all pertinent machine information before switching programs.
  • Verify holders and boring bars against the program setup sheets to ensure that all tooling is properly located and positioned.
  • Keep all documentation in a clean and legible condition.
  • Have all program changes approved by the Machine Shop Supervisor and ensure that a 1st Article Inspection is documented by a QC Specialist before proceeding.
  • Report immediately any lathe malfunction to the Machine Shop Supervisor.
  • Proceed with care when removing work pieces from machine to avoid damage to new connections.
  • Identify any work completed by you by marking your assigned identification number on the machined part, using a yellow paint marker.
  • Paint white and repair as soon as possible any product which is out of specification.
  • Report any questionable machined dimension, or problems with material, to the QC Specialist and/or manager.
  • Not earlier than 20 minutes before the shift ends, clean and wipe down the machine. Remove shavings from the pan and put shavings into the shaving bin. Sweep the floor in your work area.
  • Sign off on Work Order, Router form, and any other documentation as required by Benoit SOP.
