This role is responsible for assisting the Shop Supervisor in the daily operations of the machine shop, focusing on job setup, training, gage calibration, CNC program revision, and managing the flow of product. This position is for the NIGHT SHIFT ONLY. The CNC Machinist will provide operators with necessary materials such as gages, programs, drawings, inspection sheets, protectors, setup material, and inserts for upcoming jobs. They must be capable of obtaining information from the VAM I-Key and collaborate with other machinists to reduce setup times, improve quality, increase production, and maintain machines. The role requires the ability to set up all licensed gages, check product molds or contour tracing when inspection personnel are unavailable, and assist other machinists with daily tasks and problem-solving. Additionally, the CNC Machinist will write CNC programs for build-to-print parts, train other machinists on editing CNC programs, and assume Manufacturing Supervisory responsibilities in the Supervisor's absence. This includes verifying employee hours, directing activities from the Daily Manufacturing Schedule, and ensuring all Manufacturing stress relief, forklift, phosphate, weekly maintenance, and crane log books are maintained, as well as ensuring all Manufacturing 5S Standards are upheld. The position also involves participating in a Continuous Improvement Team at least once a year and ensuring all employees adhere to applicable HS&E policies and procedures. Successful completion of all training specified for CNC 4 job level is required, along with performing other assigned duties.
