About The Position

The CNC Machinist will setup, adjust and operate CNC lathes and/or mills and special types of machine tools. This role will also perform diversified machining operations largely on standard work having tolerance and finish specifications, requiring a general knowledge of machining practices and techniques. The hours for this shift are: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm M-F.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years of trade school apprenticeship or equivalent shop experience as a machinist.
  • Proficiency in shop math and blueprint reading

Responsibilities

  • Work from drawings, sketches and specifications in completing various machining operations.
  • Edit CNC programs to manufacture parts per blueprint/drawings.
  • Perform machine set ups to obtain close tolerances, fitting and alignment of machined parts.
  • Obtain required inspections on first pieces of a run according to prescribed procedure and performs inspections on work-in-progress using a wide variety of measuring devices.
  • Complete and maintains all necessary records of time, part counts, first piece inspections, and requisition forms, etc. for each job.
  • Make jigs, fixtures or other specialized non-production devices as qualified and assigned.
  • Perform first piece inspections on basic product for other machinists, as qualified and assigned.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance of machines according to PM schedule.
  • Troubleshoot drawings, machining, tooling, programming, material, etc. and making competent decisions pertaining to job at hand.
  • Maintain and monitor machine shop equipment.
  • Safeguard against improper use and incorrect set ups to prevent extensive damage to machine or specific sections.
  • Detect errors with frequent tolerance/quality checks.
