About The Position

Carlton Staffing is seeking a dependable and experienced VTL CNC Machinist with strong attention to detail for a temp-to-hire position in the Southeast Houston area. The role involves operating CNC vertical machining centers, CNC lathes, and other CNC equipment to produce precision components according to engineering specifications. The ideal candidate will be proficient in reading blueprints, adjusting machine settings, performing routine maintenance, and inspecting finished parts. This position offers a pay rate of $22.00–$23.00 per hour, with working hours from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, including paid breaks and a 30-minute lunch.

Requirements

3–5 years of CNC machining experience operating vertical machining centers, CNC lathes, or similar equipment.
Proficient in reading blueprints and technical drawings.
Proficient in using precision measuring instruments including calipers and micrometers.
Experience with CNC machine setup, tooling adjustments, and inspecting finished components to tight tolerances.
Strong attention to detail.
Mechanical aptitude.
Reliability.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of CNC programming concepts and G-code is a plus.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC vertical machining centers, CNC lathes, and other CNC equipment to manufacture precision components according to engineering specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD designs to maintain required dimensions and tolerances.
Adjust machine settings and tooling to optimize production.
Perform routine machine maintenance and minor troubleshooting.
Inspect completed parts using precision measuring instruments.
Work closely with engineering and quality teams to maintain production and quality standards.
Support continuous improvement initiatives.
