About The Position

The CNC Machinist II will operate industrial devices that generate manufactured parts. Essential skills are technical knowledge, setting up, and operating a CNC machine. While maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; and maintaining equipment and supplies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible CNC milling experience, aerospace industry is preferred
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of supervision (Leads, Supervisors, Managers, Site Executives)
  • Possess basic math and geometry knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of how to read and interpret blue prints/drawings
  • Basic knowledge of how to use precision measuring tools (i.e.: gauges, calipers, indicators, micrometers, etc)
  • Must be able to follow work order instructions, setup book instructions and verbal instructions
  • Must have recent experience with Fanuc and Siemens CNC controls
  • Must be able to drive a forklift

Nice To Haves

  • Certification from an accredited technical college a plus
  • Elementary knowledge of engineering principals helpful

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machines to produce complex aerospace manufactured parts primarily out of aluminum and titanium
  • Run CNC machines independently with minimal additional assistance [<15% of the time]
  • Setup machines with fixtures and required tooling to produce a new part number [with minimal supervision required (<15% of the time)]
  • Take measurements to adequately ensure the set-up is accurate, using precision measuring tools such as; gauges, calipers, indicators and micrometers. [with minimal supervision required (<15% of the time)]
  • Tear down existing machine set-up and tooling. Returning all items to their proper location
  • Aptitude to run multi spindle machines
  • Clean and prepare machine for next set-up.
  • Diligently observe the machining operations to ensure part meets the engineering requirements; using precision measurement tools to take accurate measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting controls; replacing worn tools; while adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
  • Consistently produces a part within the standard run times
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of set-up issues
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of in-process machining issues
  • Perform basic machine maintenance activities such as; check coolant fluid levels, add coolant, empty chip bins, etc.
  • Clean work area a minimum of once per shift
  • Assist CNC Machinist I as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
