About The Position

Leidos is seeking a talented CNC Machinist 1st shift to join their Mechanical Manufacturing team in Huntsville, AL. The ideal candidate will have experience in programming, setup, and operation of a variety of machine tools including CNC Mills and CNC Lathes. This role will work on different projects in an ever changing, rapid paced R&D environment with little or no assistance. Requirements

High School diploma/GED
At least 3 years of precision machining experience on CNC Mills & CNC Lathes.
Ability to lift a minimum of 35+ pounds unassisted.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to work overtime when required.
Must be a US Citizen and possess or meet the eligibility to obtain (and be able to maintain) a Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

Experience in the manufacturing of complex aerospace components from exotic materials, such as Titanium.
5-axis and/or mill-turn experience.
5 axis machining experience with Fanuc, Siemens 840D controls and MAPS programming.
(2) two years of 2D & 3D experience with a CAM software tool.
SURFCAM, Edgecam or Catia experience.
Experience machining in a prototype environment.

Responsibilities

Read engineering drawings and CAD models to produce unique precision parts.
Program, set up, and operate a variety of machine tools including CNC Mills and CNC Lathes.
Manufacture complex aerospace components from exotic materials, such as Titanium (a plus).
Perform 5-axis and/or mill-turn operations (a plus).
Work on different projects in an ever changing, rapid paced R&D environment with little or no assistance.
