Set up and operate a variety of conventional and/or CNC machine tools to produce precision parts and/or instruments by applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. Verify product by inspection of precision parts to meet defined print specifications. Machine Tools Include: Milling, Turning, Sharpening, EDM, Coating, Heat Treat, Cut-Off, Shipping & Receiving. The Machinist Level M-I performs department processes whether documentation processing and/or procedures or Machine based operations. Machine based includes conventional or CNC machine tools such as lathes, boring mills, milling machines, grinding machines, or shapers. For documentation processing and/or procedures these will follow necessary steps to carry of the tasks using computer systems to process various types of documentation related to department and/or individual work-related tasks. Operator will follow detailed instructions usually contained within a relevant WI, OPS or OPL.
