About The Position

Four levels of CNC Machinist are classified at Colt; Level I, Level II, Level III and Lead. Each classification should have reliability and adaptability to perform the job duties described below. Ideal candidates will have basic math skills, strong oral communications, and seek a position that provides steady employment and growth opportunities. The CNC Machinist must be able to work in high-demand and fast paced environments.

Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb
  • Familiar with operating a CNC machine
  • Familiar with quality and safety standards
  • Familiar with CNC tooling
  • Computer literate with experience using e-mail
  • Ability to understand and apply workplace safety procedures
  • Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment required

Responsibilities

  • Basic knowledge of operating a CNC mill or lathe
  • Ability to read a ruler and calipers
  • Ability to meet on-time scheduling of products in a fast paced environment
  • Provide assistance to other machinists when production demands are high
  • Adheres to established procedures to ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Responsible for compliance with safety and housekeeping requirements
  • Facilitates and promotes company policy and the company Quality Improvement program within all department work groups
  • Work overtime and weekends as requested along with perform other duties as assigned
  • Perform standard machinist duties such as: setup of machine, grind and deburr parts before and after machining, change tooling and operate tool probe, check fluid levels, and clean work area
  • Understands basic math
  • Ability to make programs using Mazatrol (Level II)
  • Ability to edit posted programs as needed (Level II)
  • Practical knowledge of how a CNC machine operates (Level II)
  • Perform machine setups with little instruction (Level II)
  • Ability to operate different CNC machines (Level II)
  • Perform routine maintenance on the CNC machine (Level II)
  • Ability to perform complex setups with no instruction (Level III)
  • Ability to identify potential problems before they happen (Level III)
  • Excellent knowledge of how a CNC machine operates and the ability to repair issues with them as needed (Level III)
  • Ability to operate and program Mazak mills and lathes as wells as Citizen Swiss machine (Lead)
  • Excellent time management and problem-solving skills (Lead)
  • Adhere to quality and safety standards (Lead)
  • Optimize workflow and operational efficiency (Lead)
  • Ensure all equipment and machinery are properly operated and maintained (Lead)
  • Supervise and train staff (Lead)
  • Ability to diagnose technical machine issues (Lead)
  • Monitor inventory levels and replenish supplies as needed (Lead)
