About The Position

The CNC Machinist will be responsible for operating CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling and milling of components. This role involves setting up machines, verifying quality, maintaining specifications, and troubleshooting issues. The position also includes sawing, washing, deburring, and occasionally assisting with fixturing and new part development. Adherence to safety procedures and documentation of work are critical aspects of this role. The position requires continuous learning and contributes to the company's production goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of four years of successful experience as a CNC operator or Related Experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
  • Strong conceptual skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read and understand complex instructions in the English language.
  • Successful experience with process improvement, tooling, and the use of the functional and technical skills needed to perform this job.
  • Attention to detail and good judgment.
  • Ability to work well with others, displaying professionalism, teamwork, and a commitment to achieving CQ Medical’s mission and vision.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Apprenticeship and/or certificate or degree in machining, engineering, or related field.
  • Computer savvy with a basic understanding of CAD/CAM programming.

Responsibilities

  • Machines parts by using blueprints, work instructions, and other part specifications.
  • Sets up CNC machines for production runs, including vises/fixtures, cutting tools, and offsets.
  • Operates CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling and milling of components.
  • Verifies quality of components throughout the machining process, including first parts and in-process inspections, adhering to standards.
  • Maintains part specifications by observing drilling, threading, facing, and milling operations.
  • Takes measurements, detects malfunctions, troubleshoots, replaces worn tools, and makes machine adjustments as necessary.
  • Performs sawing, washing, and deburring of parts.
  • Occasionally aids in cutting fixturing, shop aids, new print revisions, and new parts never before produced.
  • Adheres to strict safety procedures and ensures others entering the machine shop also adhere to safety protocols.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Maintains continuity across work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in training opportunities.
  • Accomplishes CQ Medical goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing production needs, new and different requests, and exploring opportunities to add value through machining resources.
