About The Position

Trident Consulting is seeking a "CNC Machinist" for one of our clients in "Houston, TX". This is a 12+ month contract role with a pay rate of $25/hr on W2. The client is a global leader in business and technology services. As a CNC/Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for supporting the safety culture, aligning large rotors, gas components, and parts within tight tolerances for machining, grinding, and runout corrections. You will also be programming CNC lathes, VTL’s, and milling machines, reading and interpreting various technical documents, and applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD & T). The role involves calculating and setting machining controls, observing machine operations, and selecting/securing fixtures and tools.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrate advanced / expert skill level (indicate part, turn OD's, turn ID’s, Grinding and burnishing on; CNC mill, CNC lathe, and NC (figure feed rates), Manual mill, Manual lathe and Manual VTL
• Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD & T). Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
• Ability to operate Manual machines as well as CNC machines

Nice To Haves

• Experience in Gas turbine repair (HSPT, GE10's, Fr3, Fr5, Fr6, and F7) Rotors and component machining is a big plus

Responsibilities

• Supporting safety culture and driving a safe to start mindset
• Aligning large rotors, gas components, and parts within tight tolerances for machining, grinding, and runout corrections
• Programing CNC lathes, VTL’s, and milling machines
• Reading and interpreting documents such as OEM drawings, REI’s, Work Instructions, and Digital Routers.
• Calculating and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
• Starting and observing machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls as required.
• Selecting, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, and grinders
• Supporting Rotor shop and Machine shop based on customer needs. Steam rotors, Gas rotors, Cases, Gas components, Aero components, and Value rack repairs.
