About The Position

Produces machined parts by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine. This role involves maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment and supplies. The CNC Machinist will operate various mills and lathes, ensure consistent production of quality parts that meet standards, complete required paperwork, perform preventative maintenance, and keep work areas clean. Employees are responsible for complying with all safety requirements and following company policies and work rules in an ethical manner. This job description is not exhaustive, and employees may be assigned other responsibilities as required.

Requirements

• Mechanical aptitude and capability to learn machine shop production.
• Ability to communicate with leaders and teammates in a professional and courteous manner.
• Focused effort to produce a quality product each and every time.
• 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma and/or GED.
• Ability to safely lift 50lbs minimum.
• Ability to stand on concrete factory floor for 10+ hours per day.
• Must be able to wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses and other PPE equipment as required for work function.
• Ability to safely reach, stretch, bend and lift parts and product from a standing position.

Nice To Haves

• 2+ years’ experience operating CNC Mills or similar production machines.
• Technical training at an accredited school.
• Blueprint reading.

Responsibilities

• Operate various mills and lathes within the machine shop.
• Maintain consistent production of quality parts that meet quality and takt time standards.
• Complete paperwork as required for specific production runs.
• Complete preventative maintenance as assigned on various machines.
• Keep work areas clean and support 6S efforts.
• Use precision measurement tools to verify part conformance.
• Comply with all safety requirements of the position and the facility.
• Follow policies outlined in the Employee handbook and posted Work Rules for GPI and behave in an ethical manner.
