About The Position

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team on a part-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for operating CNC machines to produce parts according to blueprints and work instructions. You will set up CNC machines, perform drilling and milling operations, and ensure the quality of components throughout the machining process. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to troubleshoot and make necessary adjustments to machinery. You will also be involved in sawing, washing, deburring, and occasionally assisting with fixturing and new part development. Maintaining clear communication across shifts and documenting all actions are crucial aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • Minimum of four years of successful experience as a CNC operator or related experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
  • Strong conceptual skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read and understand complex instructions in the English language.
  • Successful experience with process improvement, tooling, and use of functional and technical skills.
  • Attention to detail and good judgment.
  • Ability to work well with others, displaying professionalism, teamwork, and a commitment to achieving CQ Medical’s mission and vision.
  • Regularly required to rely on manual dexterity, including the use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects.
  • Required to see and hear to safely operate machines.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk and sit.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Apprenticeship and/or certificate or degree in machining, engineering, or related field.
  • Computer savvy with a basic understanding of CAD/CAM programming.

Responsibilities

  • Machine parts using blueprints, work instructions, and other part specifications.
  • Set up CNC machines for production runs, including vises/fixtures, cutting tools, and offsets.
  • Operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling and milling of components.
  • Verify the quality of components throughout the machining process, including first parts and in-process inspections.
  • Maintain part specifications by observing operations, taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting, replacing worn tools, and making machine adjustments.
  • Perform sawing, washing, and deburring of parts.
  • Occasionally aid in cutting fixturing, shop aids, new print revisions, and new parts.
  • Adhere to strict safety procedures and ensure others do the same.
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Maintain continuity across work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in training opportunities.
  • Accomplish production needs and explore opportunities to add value through machining resources.
