About The Position

Reata Engineering & Machine Works, Inc. (“Reata”), a state-of-the-art contract manufacturer specializing in comprehensive machining and assembly services, is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist for Weekend Shift. This role is ideal for a machinist who can independently perform complex setups, make program adjustments, troubleshoot issues, and maintain tight tolerances in a focused night-shift production environment. Our night team plays a critical role in supporting medical, aerospace, defense, semiconductor, and industrial customers who demand precision and reliability. As a Weekend Shift CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for performing advanced machine setups, making program adjustments, and producing precision parts with minimal supervision. You will review blueprints and CAD models, select tooling, optimize feeds and speeds, monitor machine performance, and perform in-process inspections to ensure compliance with tight tolerances and industry standards. Weekend shift machinists are trusted to operate with a high level of independence while maintaining production flow, quality, and safety.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong blueprint and GD&T interpretation skills
  • Ability to perform complex setups independently
  • Working knowledge of G-code and program adjustments
  • Experience holding tight tolerances
  • Proficiency with precision inspection tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in medical, aerospace, defense, or semiconductor industries
  • Experience with 5-axis or multitasking equipment
  • CAD/CAM software experience
  • Vocational training or CNC certification

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex machine setups on vertical mills, turning centers, Swiss machines, 5-axis, and multitasking equipment
  • Select appropriate tooling and fixtures
  • Adjust feeds, speeds, and offsets for optimal performance
  • Support automated systems such as bar feeders and pallet systems
  • Interpret and modify G-code programs as needed
  • Diagnose machining issues and implement corrective actions
  • Optimize processes to improve cycle times and part quality
  • Conduct first article and in-process inspections
  • Use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Maintain strict adherence to customer and regulatory requirements
  • Accurately record production time and job activity in ERP systems
  • Document scrap and corrective actions
  • Comply with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485, AS9100:2016, and ITAR requirements
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance
  • Identify and escalate larger maintenance issues when necessary
