The CNC Machinist is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC machines to produce precision components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role supports production on the 2nd shift and plays a key role in maintaining productivity, quality, and safety within the machine shop.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 3–5+ years of CNC machining experience (set-up and operation) preferred
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Working knowledge of CNC controls (Fanuc, Mazak, Haas, etc.)
  • Understanding of G-code/M-code and basic program editing
  • Experience with tight tolerances and precision machining
  • Familiarity with multiple materials (e.g., aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, plastics)
  • Proficiency with inspection tools and quality processes
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently on assigned shift with minimal supervision
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. as needed
  • Frequent use of hands for machine operation and inspection tools
  • Required use of PPE (safety glasses, protective footwear, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Technical/trade school certification in machining or manufacturing a plus
  • Multi-axis machining experience
  • Fixture setup and tooling optimization experience
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement exposure

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and/or multi-axis machines to produce precision parts
  • Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions to ensure parts meet specifications
  • Load raw materials, select tooling, and set offsets/tool adjustments as required
  • Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
  • Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot machining issues, tool wear, and dimensional discrepancies
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure equipment is in safe working condition
  • Maintain accurate production documentation and report completed work
  • Follow all safety, quality, and company procedures
  • Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and team members to support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain clean and organized work area (5S standards)
