About The Position

Responsible for producing precision parts and components using manual machine tools and CNC equipment. This role supports maintenance, repair, and fabrication operations by interpreting technical drawings, setting up machines, and machining parts to exact specifications while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Technical Certificate or higher education in Machine Tool Technology from a certified institute or 4+ years of formal machinist training or apprenticeship
  • 1+ years’ experience as a manual machinist and/or CNC machinist
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, materials, and tooling
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and GD&T
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments
  • Basic math skills including fractions, decimals, and geometry
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Basic knowledge in CAD/CAM software
  • Basic computer skills
  • Shift flexibility to work overtime when needed
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs without assistance and up to 50 lbs with assistance devices
  • Manual dexterity and ability to use hand tools and measuring instruments
  • Ability to work in an industrial environment (noise, heat, oil, metal shavings)
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national; U.S. lawful, permanent resident; Refugee; or Asylee, or be eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
  • Must not be a person prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition under Gun Control Act Requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CNC programming (G-code, conversational programming, or CAM software)
  • Experience in a maintenance or industrial environment
  • Welding or fabrication experience
  • Tool & Die experience

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses
  • Set up, program, and operate CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM’s)
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders
  • Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and materials for each job
  • Select proper stock materials according to prints and drawings
  • Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges)
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust machine settings as needed
  • Maintain tight tolerances and ensure parts meet quality and dimensional requirements (GD&T)
  • Perform routine machine maintenance/repairs and keep work areas clean and organized
  • Work closely with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to meet deadlines and troubleshoot machine failures
  • Always follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Assist with repair, modification, or fabrication of equipment and parts as needed
