About The Position

Industrious Group, a subsidiary of Itochu International Inc, is seeking a Machinist II to operate and maintain CNC machines for producing high-precision components for hydro turbines. This role requires interpreting engineering drawings, selecting tooling, and ensuring parts meet strict quality and safety standards. The machinist will monitor machine performance, make adjustments, and perform inspections to maintain accuracy and efficiency, collaborating with engineering and production teams to ensure timely delivery of quality components.

Requirements

  • Proficient in blueprint reading and understanding of geometric tolerancing
  • Able to make all but the most complex component set ups on large VBM’s
  • Able to edit programs for VBM’s
  • Able to make all but the most complex components set ups on large HBM’s
  • Able to edit programs for HBM’s
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Two years to four years’ experience as a CNC Machinist

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree preferred
  • Journey Machinist Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Setting up, editing programs, operating, and maintaining CNC machines
  • Producing high-precision components used in hydro turbines and complete turbine assemblies
  • Interpreting engineering drawings
  • Selecting appropriate tooling
  • Ensuring all parts meet strict quality and safety standards
  • Monitoring machine performance and making necessary adjustments
  • Performing inspections to maintain accuracy and efficiency
  • Working closely with engineering and production teams
  • Keeping Supervisor informed of problems regarding work piece, schedule, safety, etc.
  • Cleans up sweepings of machine tool operation scrap and collects in scrap/trash bins
  • Setting up feeds, speeds and judging cutter/insert condition to optimize machining operation for meeting surface finish and productivity
