Established in 1957 and located in St. Paul, Minnesota. Role Summary We are seeking a skilled, self-starter, and dependable person with Precision Machinist Skills to join our CNC Turning Team. This role is vital to produce parts from tight to fit-form-function tolerance components, primarily supporting the Plumbing and Utilities Inspection industries. The ideal candidate thrives in an environment of changing priorities, possesses deep expertise in Lathe machining, and maintains a relentless focus on quality and safety. This position requires a strong collaborative spirit to join our smaller sized, close-nit team in a production-based business.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in close-tolerance machining.
  • Proven operational and programming proficiency (CAM software) with Turning Centers
  • Proven operational and programming proficiency (CAM software) with Bridgeport-style conventional milling machines
  • Practical experience manufacturing components for production style machine shop demands.
  • Demonstrated track record of successful interaction and partnership with diverse internal departments (Engineering, Quality, Management) to drive project completion.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, rapid-turnaround environment and maintain composure and quality under pressure.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating and setting up FANUC Series controller machines as well as bar-feed machine setups.
  • Advanced training in CNC programming.
  • Familiarity with inspection / quality management equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Independently program, set up, and operate a range of machining equipment to produce intricate parts with tight tolerances, to fit-form-function parts, mostly out of aluminum, steel, stainless steels, brass, and plastics.
  • Expertly operate and maintain milling and turning machining centers to produce a wide variety of in tolerance parts.
  • Execute quick-turn jobs on both CNC equipment and conventional milling, turning, to support R&D, Product Development and customer needs as they arise.
  • Act as the primary subject matter expert in CNC Turning machining, effectively communicating with other employees and teams to ensure design intent and manufacturability are achieved.
  • Analyze prototype processes and recommend improvements or adjustments to machining strategies to ensure the final component design is scalable and cost-effective for production.
  • Conduct rigorous in-process and final inspections using precision measurement tools to verify compliance with stringent quality standards.
  • Demonstrate exceptional time management and multitasking skills to handle multiple projects and quickly pivot to accommodate urgent, shifting priorities.
  • Champion a strong safety mentality and contribute positively to a collaborative, high-performance team environment.
