About The Position

SMS group is an industrial equipment manufacturer for the steel industry. We design, build, and service equipment and sleep plants across the globe with a strong technical services/machine shop network in North America. The CNC Machinist will set up and operate CNC Machines safely, and efficiently to produce quality parts in a safety first environment.

Requirements

• Technical training, or 3+ years' experience programming and operating.
• Converting metric and standard measurements.
• Basic Trigonometry functions.
• Ability to use and read precise measuring tools.
• Ability to learn and understand critical processes and operations in assigned areas.
• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Safety minded.
• Drug free, safety minded and maintain an excellent attendance record.

Nice To Haves

• Enjoy hands on work.
• Understanding and able to edit G code as needed.
• Integrated Renishaw probing.
• Courteous.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC Machines safely, and efficiently to produce quality parts in a safety first environment.
• Set up and operate both CNC and manual machinery for use in metal working applications.
• Edit G code as needed.
• Integrated Renishaw probing.
• Complete SOP travelers and document daily activities.
• Interpret assembly and blueprints drawings.
• Follow proper safety precautions.
• Work well with others.
• Properly rig heavy machinery and equipment for use with overhead crane.
• Train new or other employees to perform same job responsibilities.
• Maintain an organized and clean work area.
