About The Position

This position involves setting up and operating machine shop equipment, including manual Vertical Mills, Lathes, and Drills, with a requirement for CNC experience. The role focuses on performing a wide range of machining operations on various materials and ensuring finished workpieces meet specifications.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and up to 2 – 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must have CNC experience.
  • This position requires visibility to controlled documents.

Responsibilities

  • Operate ALL equipment by following all safety rules to include Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE), machine guarding, hazard communications, etc.
  • Studies blue prints, sketches, drawings, or specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Performs a wide range of turning, facing chamfering, cutting off and similar machining operations, on a variety of castings, parts, special orders, rework, re-machining, etc. of various materials.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, etc.
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, depth and angle of cut.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
  • Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly.
  • Report all unusual conditions to supervisor.
