About The Position

Prince Industries is seeking a CNC Machinist – Set Up Operator to join their team. This role involves operating CNC Milling Machines to machine metallic and non-metallic workpieces. Requirements

  • Ability to recognize and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to understand and edit NC Programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor and co-workers as needed.
  • Ability to perform intermediate shop math skills and calculations: fraction conversions, divide, multiply, percentages, etc.
  • Basic computer skills required to perform inquiry, data collection or input.
  • Strong work ethic: Willing to work OT to meet tight deadlines as needed.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a CNC related field.
  • Experience in vertical and horizontal milling machines setup.
  • Ability to quickly use the control panel to do offsets and edits on 2-3 of the FMS machinery.
  • Ability to machine parts to +/- 0.0005” for diameter and +/- 0.001” for length.
  • Ability to read and interpret GD&T blueprints to the needed specification in creating a part.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately in noisy environments.
  • Must also have close, distance, and peripheral vision, with the ability to adjust focus and judge depth.
  • Color vision is required.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Due to ITAR regulations, only U.S. persons—defined as U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders), and U.S. nationals—are eligible for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Machine setup, operation, and startup, restarting the machine, adjusts tooling to maintain proper sizes, replaces broken or worn tooling.
  • Verify conformance of work piece to specifications, using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and go-no-go gauges.
  • Secures all tooling and instruments required; Positions and secures work piece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures.
  • Adjust work offsets and part zero.
  • Adjust the speed and feed of the machine according to different part specifications.
  • Perform daily preventative machine maintenance: proper coolant levels, filters, fan operation, cleans machines, etc.
  • Load tools and set tool Diameters so that cutter radius compensation may be used.
  • Install Workholding.
  • Department transfers to meet production needs as assigned by the supervisor.
