About The Position

The CNC Machinist – Mill is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC milling machines to produce precision components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, sound machining knowledge, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a machinist apprenticeship or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating CNC milling machines
  • Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Proficient use of precision measuring tools
  • Solid understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyperson Machinist certification or Red Seal (where applicable)
  • Experience with [specific controls such as Fanuc, Haas, Siemens—optional]
  • Experience with tight tolerances and complex parts
  • Familiarity with basic CNC programming concepts (G-code)

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor CNC milling machines (vertical and/or horizontal) to manufacture parts to specification
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions
  • Load programs, make offset adjustments, and perform tool changes as required
  • Perform first-off inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, indicators)
  • Identify and troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, materials, programs, or machine operation
  • Make minor program edits at the machine (as required and authorized)
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company safety policies
  • Document production results, inspections, and any non-conformances
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, programmers, and quality personnel regarding production issues or improvements
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, efficiency, and safety
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable health and safety regulations
