About The Position

Scot Forge is an employee-owned company that manufactures custom open die and rolled ring forgings used in demanding applications all over the world. We have locations in Spring Grove, IL, Clinton, WI and Franklin Park, IL. This role involves running production, monitoring CNC machines/lathes/mills/saws, setting up equipment, editing G and M programming codes, visually inspecting materials, calculating adjustments for lifting and transporting parts, and loading material into machines. The position requires active participation in the safety program.

Requirements

  • Hand tool and tape measure
  • Use of inspection tools such as micrometer, caliper, etc.
  • Shop math and computer skills
  • Manufacturing, production, factory experience.
  • Forklift experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to lift up to 65 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Run production, monitoring CNC machines/lathes/mills/saws.
  • Check parts throughout run making necessary adjustments to conform to specifications.
  • Set up equipment, install tools and fixtures.
  • Monitor entire run due to unique forgings.
  • Edit G and M programming codes (will train if needed).
  • Verify blueprint and dimensions.
  • Identify forgings and material type.
  • Read and understand entire part routing.
  • Select, load, and verify existing program to ensure safe and productive machining- edit if necessary, notifying Supervisor of changes.
  • Visually inspect, layout and prepare materials as required.
  • Examine material visually for flaws, defects and clean up.
  • Calculate chain and strap adjustments to ensure the safe lifting and transporting of parts.
  • Load material into machine utilizing overhead crane and secure to ensure safe machining on forgings that can exceed 100,000 lbs.
  • Prior to loading part, identify forgings, material type, and verify blueprint and dimensions.
  • Examine material visually for flaws, defects and clean-up.
  • Select, load and verify existing program to ensure safe and productive machining- edit if necessary, notifying Supervisor or Group Leader of changes.
  • Actively participate in safety program to ensure the continued success of the program.
