About The Position

Tends one or more machine tools, or special purpose machines, to manufacture metal work pieces to specifications on production and piecework basis.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience with CNC machines.
• Requirements for CNC Machinist Level II are required for CNC Machinist Level III.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
• Stand; walk; sit; and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

• Set up, program, edit, and operate complex CNC machines.
• Provide full machining process for complex parts.
• Estimate runtime per operation based on material characteristics, shape/configuration, and available machinery capacity.
• Assist with the development of product design and functionality and improves manufacturing methods.
• Select appropriate inserts and tools to improve production time while minimizing scrap material.
