CNC Machinist Journeyman

AerometalsEl Dorado Hills, CA

About The Position

The CNC Machinist Journeyman will demonstrate the ability to prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machine, check and change parts on fixtures and vices, and oversee machines while they execute tasks. This role requires proficiency in blueprint math, including stacked tolerances and edge distance, and the ability to follow procedures, work instructions, and select proper tools. The machinist will use precision measuring devices, make tool offset changes to meet part feature tolerances, and perform various CNC machining operations on CNC mills and lathes. Support for equipment such as Bridgeport mills, manual lathes, and grinders is also expected. A general knowledge of CAD/CAM systems is utilized to ensure proper dimensions and tolerance levels of finished products by using blueprints and design sketches. The role involves updating and following setup sheets, setting up mill attachments (4th and 5th axis), and performing mathematical calculations related to SFPM, RPM, Feed Rates, and chip load. The ability to program simple parts, knowledge of G&M code, and the capacity to take direction from leads are essential. This position will also involve working with, setting up machines for, and mentoring operators and machinists. Support for welding and sheet metal with tooling, and the ability to design tooling and create fixtures as needed for specific jobs, are key responsibilities. The role includes programming parts for 3-axis and 4-axis setups and positional programming, as well as editing programs by hand on machine controls. Any other duties as required by the organization will also be performed.
