About The Position

The CNC Machinist Intern will gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment by supporting CNC machining operations, tooling preparation, machine setup, and part inspection. The intern will rotate through multiple machining cells and work closely with experienced machinists and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to learn production processes and quality standards. This position provides exposure to advanced manufacturing equipment including 5-axis CNC milling and grinding machines as well as precision inspection technologies such as robotic GOM scanning. The intern will also participate in safety programs, follow manufacturing procedures, and assist with daily production activities while developing practical machining and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a technical certificate, diploma, or associate degree in CNC Machining, Manufacturing Technology, Precision Machining, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of machining principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and technical work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in hands-on manufacturing work.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions from experienced machinists and supervisors.
  • Willingness to learn CNC machine operations, setup procedures, and inspection techniques.
  • Ability to follow company safety policies and manufacturing standards.
  • Must read, write and speak fluent English.
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
  • Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or training related to CNC machining, precision manufacturing, or mechanical technology.
  • Familiarity with CNC programming concepts, G-code, or CAM software.
  • Exposure to 5-axis CNC milling or grinding equipment.
  • Experience using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, or dial indicators.
  • Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Exposure to advanced inspection technologies such as CMM or GOM scanning systems.
  • Previous experience in a machine shop, manufacturing lab, or technical training environment.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in company orientation and facility tours to become familiar with the manufacturing campus and operations.
  • Learn the parts, tooling, and processes associated with assigned CNC machining cells.
  • Rotate through machining cells and receive daily training from designated Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Assist with CNC machine setup, tooling preparation, and program loading according to work instructions.
  • Support production operations on CNC 5-axis milling and grinding production lines.
  • Run CNC programs under supervision and ensure revision levels match current production processes.
  • Perform machine adjustments and assist with troubleshooting to maintain part quality.
  • Conduct detailed part inspections using precision measuring tools and inspection equipment.
  • Assist with advanced inspection processes including robotic GOM scanning systems.
  • Document inspection results and production information to maintain full traceability.Follow established safety procedures and participate in weekly safety toolbox talks and discussions.
  • Plan daily tasks and help minimize machine downtime while meeting production goals.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with shop standards
