The CNC Machinist III is the most capable and self-directed machinist in the shop, responsible for handling difficult jobs, tight tolerances, and new parts. This role involves independent setup and prove-out across a full range of assigned workcenters, including multi-axis and mill-turn. The position requires ownership of dimensional quality and process at the machine, as well as the ability to develop other machinists. Unlike lower levels, the Machinist III works from prints and models, authors and restructures programs at the control, and designs fixturing and processes. This is the top-tier machinist role, feeding directly into the CNC Leadman position.
