The CNC Machinist III is the shop's most capable and self-directed machinist, responsible for handling difficult jobs, tight tolerances, and new parts. This role involves independent setup and prove-out across various workcenters, including multi-axis and mill-turn. The machinist owns dimensional quality and process at the machine and is expected to develop other machinists. Unlike lower levels, this position involves working from prints and models, authoring and restructuring programs at the control, and designing fixturing and processes. This is the top-tier machinist role, feeding directly into the CNC Leadman position.
