About The Position

The CNC Machinist II role is knowledgeable about the processes associated with Pryer Aerospace’s Machining facility. A successful applicant will be detail oriented and skilled as a Machinist ready to join our advanced manufacturing team specializing in aircraft and spacecraft manufacturing. This role involves setting up and operating multi-axis CNC machines, especially large 5 axis machining centers to produce precision parts from a variety of materials such as aluminum, titanium, and high-temperature alloys. With minimal supervision, a Machinist II must be able to set up equipment, load materials, monitor operations, and inspect parts to ensure conformity to engineering specifications. This position will play a crucial role in the production process and contribute to the company’s overall performance in Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Attitude (QCDSA). Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required, technical training preferred completion of a CNC machining certificate or vocational training.
  • Three (3) to eight (8) years of experience operating CNC equipment in aerospace, defense, or medical device manufacturing environment.
  • Aptitude to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Proficient in math and measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of aerospace industry quality standards (e.g., AS9100).
  • Experience with CAD, CAM, MRP and ERP systems.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and other Office products.
  • High level of initiative, High Quality standard, First part quality.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Provides feedback for product improvements for quality and cost as part of ongoing learning process of operations.
  • Legally able to work in the U.S.
  • Adhere to OSHA, NADCAP, ISO9000 / AS9100, ITAR, FAA regulations and company specific safety standards.
  • Internal Certifications: Forklift, Slings/Cranes, FPV or others deemed appropriate.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods (up to 8-12 hours per shift).
  • Able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25-50lbs regularly, and occasionally heavier weights with assistance.
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to manufacturing environments, including moderate noise levels, vibrations, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required, Such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC mills (and lathes) to machine complex aerospace components.
  • Read and interpret complex engineered drawings, geometric tolerances, and work instructions to determine machining operations.
  • Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, CMM, etc.).
  • Make calculations and offset adjustments to ensure part conformance.
  • Monitor machine performance, tooling wear, and adjust as needed to maintain accuracy.
  • Communicate feedback to help resolve production issues or suggest improvements.
  • Follow all safety and workmanship policies in a high-precision, aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
  • Maintain accurate production, maintenance, inspection records, in accordance with AS9100.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Periodically verify the conformity of the parts being machined to the specification in the router packet.
  • Deburr parts to achieve smooth finished edges and ensure accurate locating and nesting of multiple operations
  • Proficient in understanding G-code and CNC control parameters.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized for efficient workflow and readiness.
