Job Summary: The Machinist I will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating multi axis machining centers (mills) and / or turning centers (lathes) (CNC and occasionally manual) and other common shop equipment, and will correctly interpreting technical drawings while applying appropriate math skills for machining applications. A Machinist I will routinely work independently while under the supervision of a senior machinist with 10+ years experience, and will be expected to increase their skills, through ongoing training, and improve in proficiency and accuracy as they continue to master their trade. A Machinist I must communicate well to understand and apply requirements given with assignments, communicate those requirements to others, prioritize tasks, and assist the team as needed. A Machinist I will also be expected to assist Machine Operator team members as needed to achieve team objectives and meet deadlines.

Requirements

  • Technical High School Diploma or equivalent, plus Associates Degree or Required experience
  • Minimum of 2 years technical training, school or college in a relevant discipline or a minimum of 2 years work experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC machining centers (mills) and / or turning centers (lathes) in a relevant work environment using Mastercam or similar CAM software
  • Ability to read and interpret 3D technical drawings, in print and in CAD/CAM software , and the ability to modify them as appropriate
  • Working knowledge of programing, set up, and operating machining centers (mills) and / or turning centers (lathes) and other common shop equipment
  • Experience programming (e.g. G-Code, conversational quick code, and CAD/CAM software) 3-axis machining centers (mills) and / or turning centers (lathes) is required
  • General working knowledge of computers
  • Generally functional in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Working with files on Microsoft Windows operating systems and network drives / file servers
  • Ability to work with limited supervision, once tasked, required
  • Good analytical skills to identify and resolve issues quickly and accurately
  • Flexible and willing to work in a fast-paced environment with highly variable work
  • Willing to work overtime, when necessary, to achieve team objectives or deadlines
  • Well organized, thorough, and detail oriented
  • Punctual and able to maintain a reliable work schedule
  • Able to pass a drug screen and background check
  • Able to listen to, speak, read, write and understand English proficiently
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with 5-axis machining and/or turning with live tooling is a plus
  • Experience using advanced CAM tools such as automatic tool path generation tools a plus
  • Experience and training in MasterCAM is preferred, certificates are a plus
  • Experience in SurfCAM is a plus
  • Experience or training in other Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) or Computer Aided Design (CAD) software is a plus
  • Experience in fabrication, mechanical assembly, and manufacturing is a plus
  • Experience working in an ISO9001/AS9100 environment is preferred
  • Ability to supervise others is a plus
