About The Position

Job Summary: Machinist II independently sets up and operates machining equipment, including CNC Lathes and Milling machines, to produce complex parts to specification. This role demonstrates strong troubleshooting ability, ensures quality standards are consistently met, and supports continuous improvement on the shop floor. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2–5 years of machining experience preferred
  • Proficient in blueprint reading
  • Working knowledge of CNC programming and offset
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials
  • Fanuc controls a Plus
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve routine machining issues
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments

Responsibilities

  • Independently set up and operate CNC and/or manual machines for a variety of parts
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints, GD&T symbols, and work instructions
  • Perform CNC program edits and basic programming as needed
  • Select tooling, speeds, and feeds to optimize production and quality
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments to maintain output
  • Perform advanced inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision tools
  • Ensure first-piece and in-process inspections meet quality standards
  • Reduce scrap and rework through proactive problem-solving
  • Accurately complete production and quality documentation in ERP/data systems
  • Assist in training and mentoring Machinist I employees
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Safely operate material handling equipment (forklift, hoists, etc., as trained)
