This is a 2nd shift position in the Milling Department. This job will involve running our DMG DMU MonoBlock 65 & 75 5-Axis machining center. The individual in this role will need to have the knowledge to set up complex parts, the ability to read blueprints and inspect their work using various measuring instruments as well as hold close tolerances. This role also requires one to set up tooling, edit the program, offset tooling (if required), and be able to work with minimal supervision while maintaining safety and quality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong math skills and the ability to work from detailed and involved part drawings and specifications to perform operations to the capacity of the machine and controls
  • Willingness to move between work centers

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of CNC mill operation, set-up, and programming/editing experience
  • Ideal candidate will have experience editing G-Code or manually programming
  • Ideal candidate will have experience performing multiple setups per day, as well as running different grades of material and running high mix/low volume jobs
  • Advanced education or apprenticeship preferred

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve CNC program and load to the machine
  • Setup, load, and operate CNC machines to produce parts per prints
  • Read and edit G&M code and/or utilize conversational programming
  • Setup fixturing and come up with setups on machine
  • Perform first piece and in-process quality inspections using the metric system
  • Setup cutters in holders and adjust height and length
  • Read drawings/prints to identify operations, specification, and tolerances
  • Meet precise tolerances and finishing requirements
  • Use various hand tools to finish parts and check
  • Use measuring devices like micrometers and calipers to ensure specifications are met
  • Perform operator maintenance tasks like oiling, greasing, and cleaning the machine (5S)
  • Use forklift or crane to store and retrieve fixturing and other essential equipment as needed
  • Operate other machines in the department as needed
