About The Position

This role involves maintaining CNC machinery in a vertically integrated facility in Lake Zurich, IL. A typical day includes performing health checks on CNCs, diagnosing and fixing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues, responding to alarms, and executing scheduled preventive maintenance. The position requires updating work orders and debriefing the Maintenance Director. Requirements

  • 3+ years in industrial maintenance
  • Solid mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Sharp troubleshooting instincts and systematic problem-solving skills.
  • Comfort with multimeters, dial indicators, torque tools, and precision metrology.
  • Computer literacy for work orders and PM documentation.
  • Self-directed and effective with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong CNC maintenance background preferred.
  • Exposure to platforms such as Haas, Fanuc, Mazak, or Okuma is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Routinely Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on CNC equipment to keep uptime high.
  • Repair or replace spindles, motors, bearings, belts, pumps, solenoids, gearboxes, sensors, tool changers, and coolant components.
  • Verify spindle health, inspect lubrication systems, and perform axis alignment checks.
  • Interpret alarms and error codes using OEM diagrams, manuals, and diagnostic tools.
  • Respond rapidly to breakdowns to minimize downtime.
  • Execute preventive maintenance on lubrication and coolant systems, hydraulics, chip conveyors, filters, and way covers.
  • Inspect for wear, leaks, overheating, contamination, and early signs of failure.
  • Document findings, corrective actions, and parts consumed; update PMs and work orders in our maintenance system.
  • Improve PM procedures with a focus on CNC reliability and tool life.
  • Perform basic electrical tasks: low-voltage troubleshooting, fuse/breaker replacement, and wiring verification.
  • Collaborate with Operators, Leads, and Supervisors to understand machine performance concerns.
  • Mentor Maintenance Technicians on mechanical troubleshooting and best practices.
  • Participate in root-cause analysis for recurring failures and support corrective actions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that boost uptime, reliability, and throughput.
  • Follow all safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout and PPE requirements.
  • Maintain orderly, clean work areas and immediately report hazards.
  • Communicate machine status and recommendations clearly to the Maintenance Director.
  • Keep accurate logs and thorough shift handoff notes.
