About The Position

This role provides direct support to the production team in a fast-paced environment through the measurement of parts and the adjustment of precision CNC machines. The technician will maintain current manufacturing processes and standards, perform tool changes and offsets on multiple types of CNC machines, troubleshoot issues as they arise, and drive to root cause. They will work closely with the manufacturing engineer to make changes and improvements to ensure safety, quality, production, and cost goals are met. Additionally, the technician will monitor and identify potential tooling improvements and conduct tooling tests with outside suppliers and the manufacturing engineer. Quality audits will be performed using standard inspection equipment to ensure parts meet print specifications.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years machine shop experience.
  • Understanding of component machining using CNC machining centers (mill and lathes) and component inspection using metrology equipment to control extremely tight tolerances (CMM, in-line gaging, 3&4 axis tram setup and work offsets off print, advanced surface plate inspection, assist with ME guided capability parts, air gaging, etc.).
  • Understanding of CNC programming for both milling and turning, machine leveling, backlash inspection and adjustment, G-Code and M-Code, machine tool setup and integration, tooling, macro-programming and macro variables knowledge and function, fixture and gage design.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Basic CAD/CAM and basic understanding of cutting tool technology/theories.
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills.
  • Experience with Lean production systems.
  • Works well in a team environment and has a servant leader mentality.
  • Minimum of 18 years old.
  • Able to pass both a background and drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GD&T would be preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work hand-in-hand with the manufacturing engineer to make changes and improvements to ensure the safety, quality, production, and cost goals are being met.
  • Monitor and identify potential tooling improvements and conduct tooling tests with outside suppliers and manufacturing engineer.
  • Perform quality audits using standard inspection equipment to ensure parts meet print specifications.
