About The Position

The CNC Machine Set-Up II is a mid-level position that draws on prior machining experience and technical problem-solving skills to operate, change over, and set-up a minimum of three (3) types of Primary CNC equipment. The CNC Machine Set-Up II will operate, change over, and set-up multiple types of CNC machines on medium to highly complex components using automated and manual equipment and processes to meet customer needs. Operators should have the ability to work both independently and in a team environment with internal team members, leads, and supervisors to provide quality CNC Programming and Manufacturing Engineering. CNC Machine Set-Up II’s are responsible for training entry level CNC Set-up employees and communicating with management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Comfortable verifying dimensions from CMM reports.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 7 years demonstrated CNC experience with a minimum of 2 years as a level I Machine Set-up.
  • Must be able to convey ideas and information clearly, concisely, and accurately to others in English, both verbally and in written form.
  • All duties associated with a level I without assistance, as well as operating, change over, and set-up a minimum of (3) types of primary CNC equipment.
  • Know how to write a go to program if needed.
  • Understand macros and macro programs.
  • Must have a professional and respectful attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, change over, and set-up a minimum of three (3) types of primary CNC equipment within the time allotted.
  • Complete all operational processes, checklists, and procedures as required in a timely manner.
  • Correctly identify and assemble cutting tools and tool holder assemblies based on existing process documentation.
  • Prepare all tools, fixtures, and program prove out for the machines.
  • Pick-up work offsets.
  • Adjust and calculate feeds and speeds and applying knowledge of G and M codes.
  • Make all necessary tooling adjustments, center of rotation adjustments, work off set adjustments, and make any minor programming updates (feeds and speeds).
  • Validate inspection methods to determine best practices.
  • Use data from inspection report to make improvements or corrections to programs.
  • Work with inspectors during the FA process to implement improvements.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting on parts before engaging final inspection.
  • Attend ABB or Fanuc Training and apply training as necessary.
  • Participate in 5S workplace organizational activities and maintain the area in good working order through sustainment activities.
  • May be required to perform duties as outlined for a CNC Machine Operator.
  • Must follow all required safety and ISO procedures.
  • Regular on-site attendance and punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
  • May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
  • May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
  • Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
