About The Position

APX is seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Machine Operator to join its manufacturing team. The role operates metal-fabrication equipment, including CNC press brakes and lasers, to produce sheet metal parts according to engineering specifications and production schedules. It requires knowledge of machine operation, tooling setup, and blueprint reading, as well as a commitment to safety, accuracy, and efficiency. The operator supports production flow, quality standards, and continuous improvement. This is a second-shift position working four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday, from 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM. The position includes a $1.50-per-hour shift differential for hours worked on second shift.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes and tooling setup.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
Mechanical aptitude, including troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Basic computer skills for machine interface and data entry.
Knowledge of safety standards and best practices in a manufacturing setting.

Nice To Haves

Technical or vocational training.
Two or more years of experience operating CNC machines.

Responsibilities

Set up, operate, and maintain Amada CNC press brake and laser machines to fabricate sheet metal components according to specifications.
Load and unload sheet metal safely and efficiently.
Read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and technical drawings to determine machine setup and production requirements.
Select, install, and align tooling according to job specifications.
Program or input CNC data as required, including offsets, tool paths, and nesting layouts when applicable.
Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks using calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
Monitor machine operation to ensure quality, accuracy, and productivity standards are met.
Troubleshoot machine issues and make minor adjustments to maintain production flow.
Maintain production records, inspection reports, and downtime logs.
Perform routine equipment maintenance and cleaning according to preventive maintenance schedules.
Follow safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and other operators to improve efficiency and workflow.
