About The Position

As a Machine Operator I, you will operate CNC and other manufacturing equipment, perform routine quality inspections, maintain accurate production records, and contribute to daily production, quality, and safety goals in a clean and safety-focused manufacturing environment. The work schedule is from 2:00pm to 10:30pm at our Northbrook, IL location.

Requirements

  • 0–2 years of machining or manufacturing experience preferred; entry-level candidates with a strong willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
  • Basic understanding of measurement tools and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand basic blueprints or technical drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong organization and commitment to maintaining a clean work environment.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn new skills, operate manufacturing equipment, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Reliable attendance and commitment to following safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC and other manufacturing equipment to produce components in accordance with work instructions, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Understand and follow quality requirements for machined components.
  • Perform visual inspections to verify workmanship and ensure components are free from contamination or defects.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using appropriate measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, and other gauges.
  • Accurately complete parts inspection logs and other required production documentation.
  • Read and interpret basic blueprints and component drawings.
  • Learn and apply machine offsets to correct off-center components and bring parts back within specification.
  • Record daily output, quality, and safety information on production boards.
  • Determine part cycle times and accurately calculate production rates.
  • Use scales to weigh and count production pieces as required.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked gage tables and work areas.
  • Clean and wipe down machines according to HuFriedyGroup guidelines and maintain floors and surrounding work areas, including mopping floors at the end of each shift.
  • Pull chips when required and dispose of or relocate materials according to established procedures.
  • Record and verify Heat Lot numbers to maintain accurate material traceability.
  • Complete documentation and inspection records clearly and accurately.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, quality standards, work instructions, and manufacturing policies.
  • Support a culture of safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
