About The Position

The CNC Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the operations of the CNC department within the manufacturing facility. This role involves leading CNC operators and machinists, ensuring production schedules are met, maintaining machine efficiency, and upholding quality standards. The CNC Lead will also troubleshoot issues, optimize processes, and contribute to the continuous improvement of manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in CNC machining operations, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with demonstrated experience in supervising and developing teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in CNC programming, setup, and operation, with a solid understanding of machining principles and techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose technical issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems, measurement tools, and inspection methods used in precision machining.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with team members, management, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to maintain accurate production records.
  • Ability to use basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).

Nice To Haves

  • Additional technical certifications or vocational training in CNC machining or related fields preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prioritize production schedules based on customer orders, inventory levels, and resource availability.
  • Monitor machine utilization, optimize workflow, and adjust staffing levels to meet production targets and deadlines.
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as engineering and quality assurance, to ensure seamless production processes.
  • Operate CNC machines as needed to support production requirements and demonstrate best practices to team members.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as tool changes, lubrication, and calibration, to ensure machine reliability and performance.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, diagnose technical issues, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Enforce quality standards and procedures to ensure products meet specifications and customer expectations.
  • Conduct regular inspections, measurements, and testing of machined parts to verify conformance to design requirements.
  • Adhere to safety regulations, compliance standards, and best practices to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency improvement within the CNC department.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles, automation technologies, and innovative solutions to enhance productivity and competitiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive organizational growth and success.
  • Participate in production daily meetings and report production performance against schedule.
  • Other duties as assigned.
