CNC Lathe Operator- 2nd Shift
About The Position
Innomotics is seeking a CNC Lathe Operator for the 2nd Shift (3:30pm to Midnight) to join their team. This role involves setting up and proving out programs to safely and accurately machine complex parts according to print specifications. The position is within a collective bargaining Union, requiring membership upon hire. Training on the first shift will be provided until fully qualified. The operator will be responsible for the operation of high-precision equipment to produce complex components, meeting customer requirements and production schedule deadlines. This includes loading material, measuring tooling, and proving conversational and G-code programs for critical parts in the Large Motor product line. The role reports directly to the Production Supervisor and must ensure all projects are completed safely, correctly, and meet or exceed customer expectations, while adhering to all safety and quality directives.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years operating and set-up experience of CNC lathes and/or mill-turn machines
- Ability to recognize improper machine and tool performance
- Proficient with understanding G&M code
- Ability to use and read micrometers and depth gauges and dial indicators
- Knowledge of decimal and metric system
- Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance
- High mechanical aptitude with good math skills
- Must be willing to train on first shift until fully qualified
- Must become a member of the local collective bargaining unit upon hire
Nice To Haves
- Experience operating CNC milling machines and CNC lathes
- Siemens 840D control experience a plus
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and be self-driven
Responsibilities
- Safe Set-up and operation of CNC machine
- Recording measurements using precision instruments
- Producing high tolerance components
- Prove out new programs created by engineer for accuracy, efficiency, safety, and quality
- Loading / unloading necessary tools into machine and enter tool wear offsets
- Determine tool wear offsets
- Interpret drawings
- Make feed and speed adjustments to program for optimized run times
- Maintain a clean work area and perform all duties safely in accordance with company and OSHA guidelines
- Conduct daily checks of machine to ensure functionality
- Material handling using cranes and walk behind trucks
- Record all dimensions of completed parts in labor packet
