This role is ideal for someone building foundational machining skills under supervision, with growth opportunities as skill and experience develop. ON THE JOB TRAINING PROVIDED

Requirements

Blueprint reading
Process document interpretation
Ability to select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines
Ability to start and observe machine operation to ensure no malfunctions or out of tolerance conditions occur
Ability to adjust tool and/or work offsets as required
Ability to enter commands and load control media into machine controllers
Ability to measure dimensions of finished workpieces using precision instruments
Ability to listen to machines during operation to detect signs of dull cutting tools or excessive vibration
Ability to maintain machines and remove and replace broken or worn tools using hand tools
Ability to keep machines and work area clean and organized
Ability to safeguard existing programs and save new programs with proper backup
Ability to lift workpieces to machines manually or with a hoist or crane
Ability to comply with all safety standards and company policies

Responsibilities

Study blueprints and process documents to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines
Start and observe machine operation to ensure no malfunctions or out of tolerance conditions occur; adjust tool and/or work offsets as required
Enter commands and load control media into machine controllers to retrieve programmed instructions
Ensure workpieces are properly lubricated and cooled during machine operation
Measure dimensions of finished workpieces using precision instruments to ensure conformance to specifications
Listen to machines during operation to detect signs of dull cutting tools or excessive vibration, and report issues to a supervisor or programmer
Confer with supervisors or programmers to resolve machine malfunctions or production errors, or to obtain approval to continue production
Maintain machines and remove and replace broken or worn tools using hand tools
Keep machines and work area clean and organized; remove chips daily or as required
Safeguard existing programs and save new programs with proper backup
Lift workpieces to machines manually or with a hoist or crane
Comply with all safety standards and company policies
Assist in setting production standards
Demonstrate growth and retention of skill, with a focus on continuous improvement
Perform other duties as assigned or directed
