The CNC Grinder is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating 5-axis CNC grinding machines for both production and prototype projects. This role involves working with a variety of medical components, including orthopedic rasps, reamers, drills, trocars, and hip stem broaches, often made from challenging materials like stainless steel. The position requires an advanced understanding of machining techniques, tool detection, wheel presetting, and probing. The CNC Grinder will also support engineering in developing print and work instructions, maintain machine uptime and efficiency metrics, troubleshoot issues, and perform detailed documentation. A key aspect of the role includes conducting first article and in-process inspections using various measurement equipment and adhering to Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). The position also involves mentoring junior machinists, collaborating with other departments, utilizing SPC, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives like Operational Excellence and Lean Manufacturing. Compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and the Quality System (ISO, medical device requirements) is mandatory.
