About The Position

This role involves operating various types of machines, including surface grinders, CNC grinding machines, and manual grinding machines, along with their maintenance. The machinist will be responsible for loading, unloading, stopping, and starting machines, performing repeat setups, and monitoring machine operation to detect issues such as dull grinding wheels. Accurate measurement of finished pieces using precision instruments and knowledge of GDT are essential. The position requires a High School Diploma or Equivalent and a minimum of 1-3 years of experience working with various metals.

Requirements

• Must be able to operate various type of type of machines such as surface grinders, CNC grinding machines and or manual grinding machines as well as their maintenance.
• Knowledge of blueprint reading calipers, micrometers, and basic trigonometry or math skills is a must.
• Ability to use math to solve problems.
• Knowledge of GDT.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• A minimum 1-3 years of experience working with various metals.

Nice To Haves

• Experience on a Studer S41 CNC Grinder preferred.

Responsibilities

• Loads, unloads, stops, and starts manual and or CNC machines.
• Performs repeat setups.
• Listens to machine during operation in order to detect sounds such as those made by dull (in need of dressing) grinding wheels.
• Measures dimensions of finished pieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments and fixtures.
• Select and mount grinding wheels on machines, according to specifications, using hand tools and applying knowledge of abrasives and grinding procedures.
• Dress grinding wheels according to specifications.
