The CNC Grind-Creep Feed Operator, reporting to the Shift Supervisor, is responsible for adhering to all policies and procedures related to the various parts and equipment for which they are trained and certified. Additionally, operators are tasked with loading and unloading parts to meet production demands, inspecting parts using various precision measuring tools, and making decisions to accept or reject parts. They must also effectively communicate any changes both verbally and in writing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must meet the ITAR definition of §120.15 U.S. person
  • Integrity and conscientiousness in all work-related matters
  • Safety conscious always
  • Reliable attendance within acceptable standards of the attendance policy
  • Complex problem-solving with critical math skills
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English
  • Must be able to clearly communicate information to others verbally and in writing in English

Nice To Haves

  • CNC Machining certificate from a Trade School preferred, or acceptable work experience in lieu of schooling
  • Duty-related experience, including operation of flat surface grinders, preferred
  • Experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment, aerospace industry preferred
  • Experience with G & M codes preferred

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all policies and procedures related to the various parts and equipment for which they are trained and certified.
  • Load and unload parts to meet production demands.
  • Inspect parts using various precision measuring tools.
  • Make decisions to accept or reject parts.
  • Effectively communicate any changes both verbally and in writing.
  • Operate appropriate CNC flat surface and creep feed grinding equipment, as well as other machinery as necessary, to produce the required number of correct parts in a timely manner, according to process documentation, potentially operating multiple pieces of equipment simultaneously.
  • Analyze and interpret Op sheets, blueprints, mechanical drawings, and travelers to produce products that meet or exceed customer specifications.
  • Verify conformance of finished workpiece to customer specifications, using precision measuring tools and equipment as necessary (micrometers, calipers, gauges [pin, thread, indicator, height], optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines [CMM]).
  • Maintain working knowledge of CNC principles, including G and M codes.
  • Maintain working knowledge of rotary/linear axes.
  • Select, align, and secure fixtures, grinding wheels, and workpieces on machines as necessary to machine parts as required.
  • Analyze and interpret CMM reports and properly offset machine dimensions to meet customer specifications.
  • Perform deburring operations to within specified tolerances.
  • Document actions by updating control charts, travelers, and reporting labor in the ERP system.
  • Perform under AS9100 quality standards and NADCAP accreditation.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by performing daily housekeeping duties.
