About The Position

The CNC Generalist/Timesaver/Deburr is responsible for running the Costa MD4 Series machine to resurface, polish and deburr sheet metal parts for production according to work orders. This role involves ensuring safety, operating machinery, performing quality checks, and maintaining equipment. The position also requires assisting other staff, maintaining a clean work environment, and adhering to safety protocols regarding material handling.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma / GED or vocational tech school.
  • Strong mechanical ability.
  • Ability to learn CNC controller (timesaver).
  • Previous work with CNC equipment.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings with training.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and cross-functional interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic, integrity, initiative, and “can-do” attitude.
  • Ability to work in a “team environment.”
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to interpret Job Travelers (work orders).
  • Ability to identify material types and gauges of sheet metal.
  • Ability to read tape measure and dial caliper.

Responsibilities

  • Run the Costa MD4 Series machine to resurface, polish, and deburr sheet metal parts.
  • Check that all safety devices and machine guarding are in place and operational.
  • Manually load sheet-metal parts into the machine for processing.
  • Offload machine and deburr parts as necessary with an air hand sander.
  • Maintain a log of preventive maintenance on a daily/weekly schedule according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Set up and safely operate various other equipment including drill presses and Pemserter hardware inserter.
  • Check for proper hardware, thread size, orientation, and quantity.
  • Alert supervisor of any maintenance or repairs that require outside services.
  • Observe tool and machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
  • Notify supervisor of any problems and suggest changes that will allow jobs to run more efficiently.
  • Assist other staff as needed in the various phases of the fabrication processes.
  • Keep the area clean, neat, and orderly to prevent slips, trips, and falls.
  • Help clean up other parts of the shop when asked.
  • Consider pallet weight and stacking methods to maintain safe capacity.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned to help Prescott Metal achieve its goals.
  • Inspect parts throughout the operation to ensure quality, checking for material defects or damage, verifying quantity, and verifying orientation.
