About The Position

The CNC Mechanical Technician is responsible for repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing the mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and structural systems of CNC machine tools. The role supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of CNC equipment to minimize downtime and meet production goals. Other duties may be assigned. Work may take place in industrial and construction environments, with exposure to weather, temperature extremes, noise, dust, fumes, moving equipment, vibration, and other site-specific hazards. Employees must wear required PPE and meet applicable customer, site, regulatory, medical, and fitness-for-duty requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing CNC machine tools and industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, drive systems, and machine tool components.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical blueprints, assembly drawings, and pneumatic and hydraulic schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to perform the stated physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds, and to meet applicable safety, PPE, and fitness-for-duty requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or technical trade certification in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Machine Tool Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with CNC machine rebuilds, precision alignments, and spindle replacement procedures.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and predictive maintenance techniques.
  • Familiarity with machine tool manufacturers and industrial production environments.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and equipment reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine, preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on CNC machine tools, including 3-axis and 5-axis mills, CNC lathes, routers, and other precision machining equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical failures involving ball screws, linear rails, guideways, bearings, spindles, gearboxes, couplings, drive mechanisms, and other machine components.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including pumps, valves, actuators, regulators, cylinders, manifolds, and fluid delivery systems.
  • Inspect, align, level, and adjust machine components to maintain machine accuracy and performance.
  • Perform machine teardowns, rebuilds, retrofits, and component replacements as required.
  • Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, assembly drawings, technical manuals, and pneumatic and hydraulic schematics for maintenance and repair.
  • Conduct equipment inspections and document maintenance activities, findings, and repair recommendations.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance personnel to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform work in compliance with safety regulations, company procedures, and industry standards.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and spare-parts inventory, and keep a clean work environment.
