About The Position

The CNC CAD/CAM Programmer will be responsible for creating and maintaining accurate CNC programs and current file revisions for client parts. This role involves interpreting engineering blueprints to develop flat pattern layouts, collaborating directly with clients’ engineering teams, and reverse engineering parts to support manufacturing needs. The programmer will select appropriate machines, tools, and materials for cost-effective production, and design and coordinate procurement of necessary tools. Additionally, they will prepare detailed work instructions, including standardized set-up sheets and assembly guidelines, while utilizing CAD/CAM software to optimize run times and programming efficiency.

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production & interpretation of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models, specifically for sheet metal fabrication
  • Knowledge of raw materials used in sheet metal fabrication, production processes, bend deductions, turret punch press tooling, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods

  • Persistence - Job requires persistence in the face of obstacles
  • Min 3 years working with programming CNC Punch Press for Sheet Metal Fabrication
  • Knowledgeable on various precision CNC machinery and principles, fabrication and machining practices, the properties of materials, and the application of mathematics and dimensions to production machinery and tooling
  • Capable of efficiently integrating existing methods with innovation to economically solve production problems in a timely manner
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks - you must have used this for sheet metal fabrication
  • Working knowledge of CAMWorks
  • Working knowledge of a computerized nesting software preferably SigmaNEST
  • Ability to understand G Codes including ability to write, edit and troubleshoot production and technical issues

Nice To Haves

  • Engineering experience / background with strong mechanical aptitude is helpful
  • Experience programming for CNC Laser also, is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Program and maintain current file revisions of all client parts
