About The Position

Every day at KMM Group, our machinists manufacture components used in medical devices, aerospace systems, defense technologies, space exploration programs, and other mission-critical applications. The work is challenging. The tolerances are tight. The expectations are high. We're seeking an experienced CNC 5-Axis Milling Machinist who can independently set up, troubleshoot, optimize, and operate advanced multi-axis machining centers while helping us continue to deliver world-class precision manufacturing solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years CNC milling setup and operation experience
  • Experience with 4-axis and 5-axis machining centers
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Strong understanding of CNC programming and G-Code
  • Experience performing setups independently
  • Knowledge of tooling, fixturing, workholding, feeds, and speeds
  • Ability to inspect precision-machined components
  • U.S. citizen or have a valid Green Card

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational training, apprenticeship, or technical education
  • Fanuc, Siemens, or Mitsubishi controls experience
  • Mastercam experience
  • Experience with pallet systems and automation
  • Medical, aerospace, defense, or precision contract manufacturing experience

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis machining centers
  • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, engineering models, routers, setup sheets, and work instructions
  • Select tooling, workholding, fixtures, cutting parameters, and machining strategies
  • Set tool offsets and establish proven machining processes
  • Perform first-piece inspections and obtain approval prior to production
  • Optimize feeds, speeds, and toolpaths to improve cycle times and tool life
  • Modify NC code and machining parameters as needed
  • Support lights-out and automated manufacturing operations
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, fixturing, and quality issues
  • Perform in-process and final inspections
  • Utilize precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, gauges, and vision systems
  • Interpret GD&T requirements
  • Maintain compliance with KMM Quality Management System requirements
  • Support ISO 13485, AS9100, FDA, and ITAR-regulated manufacturing environments
  • Identify process improvements
  • Improve setup reduction and machine utilization
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Assist with training and mentoring less experienced machinists
  • Help develop repeatable, stable production processes
