A Nursing Assistant performs duties related to patient care and comfort under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel. This role involves providing basic care, managing resources, maintaining accurate documentation, fostering positive relationships, responding to patient needs, and ensuring a clean and orderly environment. The position requires attendance at mandatory training and meetings, participation in quality improvement initiatives, and communication of patient condition changes to the RN and LVN. Additional responsibilities include adapting to workload changes, caring for geriatric and pediatric patients, acting as a patient advocate, accepting constructive criticism, promoting safety, and adhering to ethical and legal principles. Knowledge of Standard Precautions and the ability to organize work efficiently are essential. The CNA functions within the limits of the state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies. Specific training is provided for CNAs caring for Joint Replacement patients.
