About The Position

As a member of Corewell Health’s nursing team, the CNA provides patient care according to individual care plans, unit routines, and hospital policies. The role provides direct day-to-day care for assigned residents or patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse, Unit Manager, or other licensed nurse, and contributes to patient and family well-being.

This is a full-time night-shift position in the Nursing Unit at Cedar RNC in Grand Rapids. The schedule is 36 hours per week, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., on variable days, including every third weekend.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a State of Michigan-approved CNA training course.
• Michigan CNA certification through the Michigan Department of Licensing & Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Community and Health Systems; timing depends on the listed work location.
• Michigan driver’s license upon hire for the specified hospice roles and CNAs who transport patients off-site.
• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days for the applicable roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the direction of the Unit Manager or a licensed nurse, consistent with unit policies and procedures.
• Provide day-to-day care to assigned residents or patients, including dressing, bathing, transporting, and feeding.
• Document care provided according to applicable guidelines.
• Maintain patients’ environments, work areas, and equipment, and report equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
• Complete and maintain the required number of CNA educational hours.
• Participate in selected unit quality-monitoring activities under the direction of the Unit Manager or Nurse Leader.
