The CNA assists the RN with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, and ambulation. This role involves measuring and documenting vital signs and patient data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), performing purposeful rounding, and participating in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes. The CNA is also responsible for collecting specimens, performing point-of-care testing, completing errands, maintaining nursing area stock, and cleaning equipment. Additionally, the position requires performing patient positioning and transporting duties, assisting with nutritional needs, maintaining skin integrity, and potentially performing tasks such as removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and bladder scans. The CNA must adhere to infection prevention policies and demonstrate knowledge of age-specific care needs.
