The CNA assists registered nurses with patients’ daily care, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, ambulation, positioning, range of motion, and transfers. The CNA measures and documents vital signs, intake and output, weights, and other patient data in the electronic medical record, performs purposeful rounding, and promptly communicates observations and patient or family needs to the RN. Under RN supervision, the CNA supports admissions, transfers, and discharges; keeps call lights accessible and responds promptly; collects specimens and performs indicated point-of-care testing; completes errands; maintains nursing-area supplies; and cleans equipment and work areas. The role also includes supporting nutrition and skin integrity, providing appropriate supplies and appliances, and, depending on site and unit requirements, removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, or performing bladder scans. The CNA follows infection-prevention policies and provides age-appropriate care based on patients’ developmental needs. The position requires operating equipment necessary for the work and working around mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood, and body-fluid hazards, using protective clothing as needed. This is a full-time position with three 12-hour night shifts per week, a self-scheduling arrangement, and weekend and holiday rotations.
